Mercator Medical wins awards from Forbes, Puls Biznesu and PwC
The title of Family Ambassador of the Year (Rodzinny Ambasador Roku) was awarded to Mercator Medical and received by Dr. Wiesław Żyznowski, the founder and the president of the company. Mercator Medical was also awarded a distinction in the Foreign Investment Pioneer (Pionier Inwestycji Zagranicznych) category of the competition “Polish Company – International Champion” (Polska Firma – Międzynarodowy Czempion) organised by PwC Polska and Puls Biznesu.
“These awards are very valuable for us and correspond well to the summary of the current year, in which we have gained from the global increase in demand for single-use gloves as well as investments and business expansion we carried out in previous years,” comments Dr. Wiesław Żyznowski, president of the Mercator Medical Group.
“Mercator Medical was conceived from the outset as a family company with a global reach. I am glad that our success has been recognised and appreciated. At the same time I would like to assure you that we do not intend to rest on our laurels. We are motivated to develop the Group in the long term, to make it an even brighter example of the Polish success of a family company internationally,” adds President Żyznowski.
The awards are the effect of dynamic business growth for the Mercator Medical Group, its geographic expansion and strong capitalisation growth on the WSE. But these are only some of the most recent distinctions granted to the manufacturer and distributor of single-use gloves and medical materials based in Krakow. In June of this year the company debuted in the 22nd edition of the List 500 compiled by Rzeczpospolita and received the Eagle of the Republic award (Orzeł Rzeczpospolitej) in the Debut category, while in September this year it was awarded the Investor Without Borders title (Inwestor bez granic) granted annually as part of the European Economic Congress in Katowice to the most effective Polish investors expanding internationally. This notable dynamic and global development of the Mercator Medical Group is reflected in its financial performance. In the third quarter of the current year alone, the Group recorded revenues which are four times higher than a year ago (604.0 million PLN). The Group also earned EBITDA which is 46 times higher (PLN 390.9 million) and net result which is 500 times higher (PLN 355.8 million). Net cash increased by more than half a billion PLN compared to last year.
In June of this year Mercator Medical advanced to the mWIG40, and since October the company’s securities futures have been traded on the WSE. Since December, the company has also been included in the MSCI Small Caps index. Stock analysts indicate Mercator Medical as a candidate for the Polish WIG20 index in the perspective of subsequent index composition revisions.
At the same time, since the beginning of the pandemic, this Krakow-based company has been actively involved in the fight against COVID-19 by donating personal protective equipment from its own portfolio to numerous medical and care facilities. To date, Mercator Medical has already donated over 1.6 million examination gloves and 50,000 face masks to almost 60 different institutions, mainly hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and foundations, as well as to the Police Headquarters, the Material Reserves Agency and the Ministry of Health. At present, the company is carrying out the #TogetherAgainstTheVirus (#WspólniePrzeciwWirusowi) campaign to support medical and care facilities by donating personal protective equipment from its own portfolio.
